This router is built around Qualcomm’s next-generation X62 cellular modem platform, supporting the 3GPP Release 16 specification for 5G, often referred to as “5G Phase 2.” This enables compatibility with the newest cellular technologies and performance improvements across modern 5G networks.

The BR1 Mini 5G is particularly well-suited for existing Peplink users who want to introduce 5G into their current network using Synergy Mode.

Qualcomm X62 Next-Generation 5G

The X62 modem used in this router represents the newest generation of 5G modem technology available in mobile routers. It supports two-way carrier aggregation, enabling higher theoretical peak speeds and improved overall performance.

The modem can aggregate low-band and mid-band cellular frequencies simultaneously, combining multiple spectrums to increase speed, extend coverage, and improve connection stability. This ability to aggregate across both bands at once represents a significant advancement in real-world cellular performance and reliability.

Additionally, the X62 modem supports AT&T’s “Andromeda” mid-band spectrum, which was not available on earlier modem platforms such as the X55.

Super-Fast Cellular Internet

With its single 5G cellular modem, the BR1 5G can achieve theoretical download speeds up to 4 Gbps and upload speeds up to 700 Mbps (with a maximum router throughput of 300 Mbps).

The router includes dual SIM slots, making it easy to switch between cellular carriers using the built-in management interface.

The MAX BR1 5G ships with a 120V AC power adapter, but it can also accept 12V DC input using the optional direct-wire power adapter available in the options section above.

Synergy Mode

Synergy Mode allows existing Peplink users to integrate the BR1 Mini 5G into their current setup. By connecting the BR1 Mini’s WAN port to the WAN port of an existing Peplink router via Ethernet, both devices operate together as a unified system.

This creates a single management experience where both routers can be controlled from the same dashboard, making it simple for users with existing 4G routers to upgrade their network by adding 5G connectivity.

Combine Connections with Peplink SpeedFusion

Peplink’s SpeedFusion Connect technology enables multiple internet sources to be combined into a single highly reliable connection. This capability is ideal for applications such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other bandwidth-intensive services.

Connections such as cellular, Starlink, WiFi, and Ethernet WAN can be merged into one seamless internet link. The platform also provides flexible network controls that allow users to route traffic through the bonded SpeedFusion connection or bypass it as needed.
