AUTOTERM  /  Baltica System  /  All-in-One Heating

One loop.
Hot water, cabin heat, warm floors.

Baltica replaces the usual stack of separate boxes — water heater, air heater, coolant loop — with one 13 litre heated tank. Run it on diesel, on shore power, on solar, or on all three, and pull hot water and cabin heat off the same circuit.

6–10 MIN TO HOT WATER 13 L / 3.4 GAL TANK 2 × 800 W ELECTRIC 5 kW DIESEL HEATER DIESEL + ELECTRIC + SOLAR
System architecture

Heat goes in once. It comes out three ways.

DIESEL Baltica Flow 5 5 kW · 17,000 BTU/h GRID / SOLAR 2 × 800 W = 1600 W EXPANSION TANK 13 L coolant · 90°C max INTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGER Domestic hot water 3.5 L/min · 0.92 gal/min Cabin air heating fan coils · radiators Heated floors up to 6 m / 20 ft aux loop HEAT IN STORE HEAT OUT
01 · Water

Shower-ready in 6–10 minutes

Fresh water runs through the coil inside the tank and comes out hot on demand — no second boiler, no stored water sitting in a tank. Fit a flow regulator at 3.5 L/min (0.92 gal/min) to hold temperature steady through a full shower.

02 · Air

Zone the whole build

Hot coolant feeds radiators or fan coil units wherever you need heat. Pair it with Baltica Control and the system runs the pump and fans on demand, then backs off on its own once each space hits target.

03 · Floors

Warm underfoot

There's enough coolant capacity to drive a hydronic floor loop in a motorhome, camper, or yacht — the detail that separates a four-season build from a three-season one. Auxiliary loops up to 6 m (20 ft).

Grid mode

Burn electricity when you have it. Burn diesel when you don't.

Two 800 W elements sit inside the tank and hold coolant temperature straight off shore power, a campsite pedestal, or a solar-fed inverter. In GRID-only mode the heater stays off entirely and the stored heat still supplies hot water and space heating — quiet nights, no fuel burn, no exhaust.

GRID mode locks out the Flow 5 heating settings while it's active. Switch GRID off to hand control back to the diesel side.

North American spec: the grid elements run on standard 120 V AC shore power. At full output both elements together draw roughly 13 A, so plan for a dedicated 20 A circuit or stage the elements if you're sharing a 15 A pedestal.

Read this before you order the heater

The Baltica System and Baltica Control only work with the dedicated AUTOTERM Baltica Flow 5 heater. A standard Flow 5 will not run the Baltica system or its control functions. Order the Baltica-specific version.

Control

Two ways to drive it

ENTRY

Push Control

  • →  Simple push-button operation
  • →  Automatic pump start and stop
  • →  Fans stop automatically at target temperature
FULL SYSTEM

Baltica Control

  • →  Automatic pump and heating-fan management
  • →  Target-temperature fan shutdown
  • →  Second-compartment heating on a separate zone
  • →  Relay-driven heat-on-demand for third-party devices
  • →  Advanced timers and electric/diesel heat scheduling
Applications

Where it earns its space

Campervans & motorhomes

Showers, cabin heat, and heated floors off one system — and one less box to find wall space for.

Boats & yachts

Non-corrosive stainless components for marine service, with shore-power heating at the dock.

Work & specialty vehicles

Crew comfort, wash-down water, and coolant heat for mobile service, detailing, and utility builds.

Custom hydronic systems

Runs standalone or drops into a larger radiator, fan coil, or hydronic design as the heat source.

Installation envelope

Plan the bay before you plan the plumbing

Baltica has a hard mounting envelope. Check these clearances against your layout early — they're not negotiable, and they drive where the heater has to sit.

13 L VERTICAL ONLY 5 cm / 2 in clearance all sides FLOW 5 ±50 cm max 3 m / 10 ft coolant pipe run
  • Vertical mounting only — no alternative orientations are permitted.
  • Use the original brackets and fix the tank securely to structure.
  • 5 cm (2 in) clear on every side, in a ventilated compartment.
  • Coolant run under 3 m (10 ft) between heater and tank.
  • Heater within ±50 cm (20 in) of the tank centreline if mounted separately.
  • Connect the overflow pipe so coolant or steam can never vent into the compartment.

Coolant: propylene glycol only

Because the same coolant loop heats your drinking and washing water, this system takes AUTOTERM Aluminium EKO Coolant or an equivalent non-corrosive propylene glycol to the same specification. Standard automotive antifreeze is not suitable for domestic-water systems.

Never fill with plain water. For installations that don't supply domestic water, G13 antifreeze is acceptable.

Documentation

Full installation, commissioning, and operating instructions from AUTOTERM.

Installation and service must follow the official AUTOTERM Baltica manual and be carried out by qualified personnel. Incorrect installation, the wrong coolant, or unauthorised modification can affect performance, safety, and warranty coverage.
