Upgrade a legacy Dometic climate-control system without replacing the existing communication wiring inside the RV. This genuine Dometic adapter converts the RJ11 connections used by older Penguin II, CCC and CCC2 installations to the RJ45 CAN/CMC ports found on newer Dometic Connect Essential control boards and CMC wall thermostats.

It is commonly required when replacing a Penguin II heat-pump unit with a compatible FreshJet 5 electronic heat-pump model, connecting existing RJ11 wiring to a Connect Essential control board, or replacing a CCC2 10-button thermostat with a Connect Essential CMC thermostat. The approximately 12-inch harness provides a plug-in connection between the two connector formats; it is a communication adapter, not an Ethernet or internet adapter.

The number of adapters required depends on the system layout. Use one adapter at every point where an existing RJ11 cable must connect to an RJ45 CAN/CMC port. A rooftop unit positioned in the middle of a multi-zone daisy chain may require two adapters—one for the incoming cable and one for the outgoing cable. Replacing the wall thermostat may require another adapter at that connection.
